Planning Your Landscaping Project? Must-Have Landscaping Products to Add to the List

If you're building your home on unimproved land, you'll need to plan for the landscaping. You might not realise this, but embarking on a landscaping project on unimproved land requires some additional work. It can also require some additional landscaping products. If you're not sure what type of landscaping products you need for the project, read the information provided below. You'll find four important products to add to your supply list.

Clean Fill Dirt

Now that you're making plans to landscape your property, the first thing you need to do is invest in a generous supply of clean fill dirt. If you're like most people, you think that topsoil is all you'll need for your landscaping. However, when unimproved land is involved, you also need to have some fill dirt on hand. That's the dirt you'll use to build up uneven areas of the property, fill in unwanted holes, and create stability for your retaining walls.

Mulch and Bark

If you plan to include gardens and trees on your property, you'll also want to have a good supply of mulch and bark on hand for the project. Mulch and bark are two all-purpose landscaping products that you can use throughout your yard. First, you can use mulch to protect your gardens and trees from weather-related soil problems. You can use mulch and bark as decorative ground cover in your yard. As an added benefit, you can use mulch to provide a soft surface for your children's play areas.

Rocks of All Sizes

Now that you're in the process of planning the landscaping for your new home, you'll want to invest in rocks of all sizes. First, large decorative boulders can be used to create focal points throughout your yard. Decorative stones can be used to add texture to your landscaping. Finally, gravel can be used to line your pathways. Gravel can also be used to improve drainage throughout your yard.

Erosion Protection

Finally, if you're in the process of landscaping unimproved land, you'll want to include erosion protection on your list of essential landscaping products. Erosion can destroy your property. Unfortunately, many homeowners don't plan for soil erosion until it's too late. That's where early prevention comes into the picture. When you're purchasing your landscaping products, be sure to include something like jute mesh material. This type of material helps to hold your soil in place, which eliminates the risk of erosion.
